AD – I can’t believe how quickly term is going and just how soon the holidays will be here! My eyes are firmly fixed on that prize of the freedom to seek out adventures – as always making the most of family time. Edinburgh has so many family-friendly activities and we will be aiming to make the most of that…

One of the things we’ve got planned is the Easter Saturday Royal at Musselburgh Racecourse. Back for a third year running on Saturday 20th April, aside from Racing there’s so much more to keep the kids entertained. We’ll be heading along with a bunch of friends and family and really can’t wait.

Racing enthusiasts and those in search of a great day out over the holiday weekend will enjoy an Easter spectacular of first-class racing including the prestigious £100,000 Queen’s Cup highlight and the renowned Scottish Sprint Cup.

Obviously, we go looking for the family-friendly aspect of the event – and the little ones are definitely not left out. The gates don’t open until 11.30am so we can always have a leisurely start to the day. There’s a dedicated kids zone – where they can hang out with the Easter Bunny!! – whilst taking in the games stalls, fairground rides for all ages and face painting. With accompanying adults, Children 17 and under go FREE so it’s really ideal for a big family!

There’s live music from Funkwagen & entertainment and an array of exciting street food stalls – so easy to cater for a variety of tastes! There’s an array of drinks destinations (fizz always popular!) and never really one to walk past the Edinburgh Gin Tipple Trailer!

Even for those without kids, it’s a great destination for couples, friends and groups looking for an Easter get together with a difference. For those wanting to make it really special groups can even book exclusive Yurts for a real VIP experience – think I’d be slightly concerned the kids would think the concierge service should come home though!

It’s worthwhile grabbing tickets early as they cost £20 until midnight 15th March and then go to £30. For more information check out the Musselburgh Racecourse website and maybe see you there!

P.S. This is a sponsored post in collaboration with Musselburgh Racecourse. We’ve worked with them before so know how much fun the Family Raceday’s are and are thankful for their support of Edinburgh life with Kids.
