  1. Egg Hunts by National Trust for Scotland: Join the National Trust for Scotland’s Egg Hunts taking place at numerous locations across Edinburgh. Explore historic sites, enchanting gardens, and scenic landscapes while hunting for hidden treasures. Our favourites include the House of Binns or Newhailes (with the awesome Weehailes play park!). Tickets are only £4 and are still available for today!
  2. International Science Festival: Delve into the fascinating world of science at the International Science Festival. From interactive exhibits to captivating workshops, this event offers a plethora of engaging activities for curious minds of all ages. There’s loads on over the Easter Holidays at different locations throughout Edinburgh, so if it does turn into a rainy day then there’s loads of indoor options! Check out the program here.
  3. Easter Crafts and Workshops: Get creative with Easter-themed crafts at Dalkeith Country Park. From egg crackers to bunny mask-making, unleash your artistic flair and craft delightful Easter keepsakes to cherish for years to come.
  4. Easter Brunch and Afternoon Tea: Treat yourself and your loved ones to a delectable Easter brunch or afternoon tea at one of Edinburgh’s charming cafes or restaurants. Indulge in mouthwatering delights, from hot cross buns to Easter-themed pastries, while soaking in the city’s festive atmosphere. Alternatively, check out The Pantry’s Guide on how to poach your own eggs – they usually have a queue for a table (well worth the wait) but if you want a warm up act, this is egg-cellent 😉
  5. Easter Eggstravaganza at Edinburgh Zoo: Head to Edinburgh Zoo for an Eggstravaganza like no other! Enjoy egg hunts, animal encounters, and Easter-themed activities amidst the zoo’s enchanting surroundings. Events are running from April 1 until April 19 so there’s plenty of time to fit something in. It’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate Easter while learning about wildlife conservation.
  6. Easter Sunday Services: Attend Easter Sunday services at Edinburgh’s historic churches and cathedrals to commemorate the religious significance of the holiday. Ps and Gs is a popular family church and have a number of services through Holy Week for a moment of peace.
  7. Easter Egg Rolling: Join in the Scottish tradition of Easter egg rolling at selected parks and green spaces across Edinburgh. Apparently this was first done to symbolise the movement of the sun, but took on the idea of the stone being rolled away from the tomb on Easter morning. Starbank Park in the North of Edinburgh is a well known community event, but anywhere with a decent hill suffices and Edinburgh has those in abundance!

With so many egg-travagent events happening around Edinburgh this weekend, there’s no shortage of ways to celebrate Easter and create lasting memories with your loved ones. Whether you’re hunting for chocolate eggs, exploring the wonders of science, or simply enjoying quality time together, Easter in Edinburgh promises to be an unforgettable experience. Happy Easter!
