I am feeling incredibly blessed to be having time away from work, not only to look after Thomas but to be able to see Katie grow too. I’m very conscious that both of the kids will have to be in full-time childcare and that I will miss so much. I’m just trying to soak up every minute that I can and not be too sad at what I will be missing in the future.

Katie is a little chatterbox and I love the snippets that she comes out with. I often have no idea where her imagination has picked them up from but there’s certainly variety. Here are a few of my favourites from the past few weeks that I don’t want to forget:

Katie: My Daddy is smelly.
Me: Why do you say that?
Katie: I saw him wearing it in the street!

Katie: I don’t like to eat smelly socks.
Me: That’s good!
Katie: Tell my teacher I don’t want any for snack.

Me: What do you want to be when you grow up?
Katie: A builder.
Me: Oh cool! What are you going to build?
Katie: A castle. I’m a Princess see?
Me: Can Daddy and I live with you?
Katie: Mmmm… you can visit.

Katie: Santa is coming today!
Me: No, he’s coming next week.
Katie: Oh. But I want him to bring me a snowboard.
Me: That’s a pretty big present. I think Santa will bring you something small or he’d run out of room in his sleigh.
Katie: Oh. I want a motorbike then.

Katie: This is my stocking! (Holding Mike’s)
Me: No, that doesn’t have your name on it.
Katie: It has my letter on it. (Pointing to the K).
Me: Your letter needs to be at the start of the word. This has a M. Whose name begins with Mmmm.
Katie: Me!

Katie ends an awful lot of her sentences with either ‘see’? or ‘ok’? Neither Mike nor I do this so I’m not sure where she get’s it from but in my mind – it’s pretty darn cute!
